Our nearest pub, set on the banks of the River Taw, The Rising Sun offers good home cooked food and local ales, good wines and local ciders. We serve fresh coffee all day.

Cosy fires in winter & lovely terraces in summer. With new owners (2013) our aim is to offer a relaxed informal atmosphere in our cosy pub set amongst stunning scenery here in North Devon.

The Exeter Inn (Chittlehamholt – about 3 miles)

http://www.theexeterinnn.co.uk/

The Exeter Inn is a sixteenth century coaching Inn, and has been run by the Glenister family for the past 25 years. Very much a traditional pub, where you are assured of a warm welcome. If you wish to eat at the Exeter Inn you are in for a culinary treat! There are two separate restaurants – one ‘barn-style’ conservatory, and a ‘snug’ style restaurant with original period features and an inviting warming open fireplace, serving quality home-cooked, locally sourced traditional dishes including sumptuous steaks and fresh fish. Even the ice cream is sourced from a local farm!

The Stags Head Inn – Filleigh (about 6 miles)

http://www.stagshead.co.uk/

This delightful 16th Century lakeside thatched inn nestles in a valley set in the beautiful Fortescue Estate amidst rolling fields and lush woodland, not far from the stately home Castle Hill. Although secluded, the pub is within easy reach of Barnstaple, South Molton, Exmoor and the coast.

We offer a warm welcome, whatever the season. In winter, come and unwind in our cosy Bar or Restaurant – or, on balmy summer evenings, watch our friendly ducks from the pergola overlooking our well-stocked trout lake. We specialise in good wholesome home-cooked food, supported by a range of beers, lagers, soft drinks and a small selection of good wines.
